A sports trip can fail before the first whistle if the ticket route does not match the traveler. Jeju’s 107th National Sports Festival runs from October 16 to 22, 2026, but its advertised digital ticket is not a universal foreign-visitor pass. That distinction is the first planning decision, ahead of hotels, cheering accessories, or a list of sports. The official overview and independent newspaper preview agree on the main dates.

This is a research-based preparation article, checked on October 5. It explains what is confirmed, which route applies to whom, and which unanswered questions should stop a nonrefundable booking. It does not claim that the writer attended an event that has yet to open.
Put the ceremony clock beside the competition calendar
The organizer lists the opening ceremony at 18:00 on Friday, October 16, and the closing ceremony at 17:30 on Thursday, October 22, both at Jeju World Cup Stadium. Those are published ceremony times, not guaranteed gate-opening times. See the live ceremony page before leaving for the stadium.
An earlier newspaper preview used 17:50 for the opening. For planning, use the organizer’s current 18:00 listing and leave room for preliminary activity, security checks, and a later operational notice. Arriving exactly at the advertised start is a poor plan if your group still needs admission assistance.
Three dates that mean different things
The July 15 registration announcement concerns athletes. The September 23 report previews the coming festival. The October 16 date concerns the main opening. A publication date tells you when information appeared; it does not mean competition happened on that day.
The KSOC announcement also identifies badminton, gymnastics, cycling, and table tennis as advance-event sports with separate registration schedules. Consequently, the main seven-day festival window is not proof that every desired discipline or athlete will compete during your stay.

A digital ticket has a nationality condition
The official digital ticket introduction lists issuance from September 21 through October 22 and eligibility for Korean nationals aged 14 or older. Children below 14 may enter with an accompanying family member’s digital ticket under the stated guidance.
That wording matters for international readers. A foreign passport holder should not assume that having a Naver account, a Korean phone, or a Korean-speaking friend removes the nationality condition. Equally, a restriction on this digital product does not establish a blanket ban on foreign spectators. The confirmed fact is narrower: the advertised issuance route has a domestic eligibility rule.
Ask for an alternative before reserving travel
Contact the organizer with the exact session, date, nationality, party size, and any accessibility requirement. Ask whether there is a separate foreign-visitor admission method, where it is issued, whether advance registration is necessary, and what it costs. Obtain a response that names your ceremony or competition; an answer about one session may not cover another.
The official site lists the festival planning office at 064-710-3397, weekdays 09:00 to 18:00. This is an inquiry contact, not a guarantee of English assistance or ticket availability. A hotel concierge or Korean-speaking companion can help communicate the question without pretending to qualify on someone else’s behalf.

Keep wallet verification separate from a saved picture
For eligible users, the organizer’s process involves Naver login, relevant consent, and the Naver Pay Wallet. Review what information will be shared before accepting. Use the link on the official festival site rather than a message from an unknown promoter.
The official Q&A says a screenshot is not accepted as ticket authentication. The actual ticket must be opened in the wallet. The same Q&A describes NFC-based venue attendance verification and warns that incentive funding can run out. A reward should therefore never be treated as guaranteed money that makes the trip affordable.
Charge the phone, preserve mobile connectivity, and establish what to do if the wallet cannot open. Keep an inquiry number separately from the device containing the ticket. These are editorial precautions, not additional admission rules. Do not pay an unofficial seller to bypass an eligibility condition.
One stadium photograph does not locate every event
Jeju World Cup Stadium is the confirmed ceremony location. The festival overview lists a wider network of competition venues, so a photograph of that stadium is not a routing instruction for a swimming session, a martial-arts bout, or an athletics event.

For each proposed session, save the Korean venue name, full address, entrance instructions, and return route. Check the competition calendar through the official festival website rather than relying on an old tournament search result. Pages explicitly marked as practice material are not a substitute for the live schedule.
The organizer published an attendee-specific parking notice on October 4. Read the applicable instructions before driving. An invitation category or team vehicle allocation should not be assumed to cover an ordinary spectator’s rental car.
Build a return journey before adding a second venue
Based on the verified information, the more resilient plan is one confirmed session followed by a flexible meal or rest period. Only add a second sport after checking the interval and transfer. A late ceremony finish combined with an unverified last bus creates a preventable problem.
Exact transport fares, special shuttles, bag restrictions, and session-level accessibility were not established by the pages checked for this article. Ask directly about step-free entrances, wheelchair viewing locations, companion access, food, large bags, and camera equipment. Do not interpret an absent restriction as permission.

Athlete entry is an entirely different process
The KSOC notice set the principal athlete application window at July 22 through August 13, using sport associations and city or provincial teams. It describes staged administrative submission, not an open tourist activity. October visitors cannot turn up with sports shoes and convert a spectator ticket into competition registration.
If you are already an athlete or team representative, work through your association for accreditation, equipment, schedules, and team transport. If you are watching, stay out of athlete-only circulation areas and follow staff directions. The two groups may share a venue while having very different entry conditions.
Questions to settle before a sports weekend
Can a foreign visitor definitely enter with the NFT ticket?
The published issuance condition specifies Korean nationals aged 14 or older. An alternative for your circumstances needs direct organizer confirmation. This article cannot guarantee one.
Is the opening at 17:50 or 18:00?
The current official ceremony page lists 18:00 on October 16. Allow time for entry and recheck operational notices rather than using the earlier press time as a gate appointment.
Does one ticket guarantee all sports?
No such universal coverage was verified. Confirm the selected sport, session, venue, capacity conditions, and admission method individually.
Can I use a screenshot if the app is slow?
The official Q&A rejects screenshot authentication. Resolve wallet access before arrival and ask the organizer about assistance if the live ticket fails.
What if weather or access changes the plan?
Keep transport and accommodation flexible where possible. Recheck event notices and local weather shortly before travel. If admission remains unresolved, choose an ordinary independently bookable activity instead of treating the festival as a guaranteed stop.
Should I bring competition equipment?
Spectators should bring only what their venue permits. Competitors need association instructions and accreditation; a viewing reservation does not authorize participation.
